There are two basic types of strawberries -wild and tame-, more than 600 known varieties, each one with different taste, shape and texture. The strawberry, especially the wild, has tis roοtes in Ancient Greece. The legend says when Adonis died, Venus cried so much that her tears dropped to earth and changed into small red hearts, the strawberries. In Europe the first cultivations of wild strawberries, began in the Middle Ages in Rome and the most popular variety in this period came from Alps.
